Getting to Friar’s Bush & Accessibility
Friar’s Bush Graveyard is on Stranmillis Road, Belfast, next door to the Ulster Museum, Botanic Gardens and near Queen’s University.
By Bus from the City Centre
From the bus stop at Donegal Square East, next to City Hall:
Take Metro bus 8A or 8D and get off at the Ulster Museum, from there it is a short walk (50m) up Stranmillis Road.
Alternatively take Metro bus 8B or 8C and get off at Queen’s University, and walk up Stranmillis Road, Friar’s Bush will be on your left. It’s about a 3 minute walk.
By Train
The nearest train station is Botanic, from which it it is a 15 minute stroll via Botanic Gardens. Exit via the gate next to the museum entrance and walk up Stranmillis Road. You’ll see the gate house for the graveyard on your left.
By Car
There is free on-street parking, but be mindful of double yellow lines. There are a limited number of spaces for blue badge holders at the Ulster Museum.
By Coach or Minibus
There is a designated kerbside drop-off and pick-up area at the Ulster Museum.
Accessibility
The graveyard is mostly accessible - the paths are of short, well-drained grass, which are regularly mowed by the Council. There is a short cobblestone section at the entrance.
It is accessible for user’s of walking aides and wheelchairs apart from the central mound, which has a relatively steep slope.
There are no toilets on site. The nearest accessible toilets are on the ground floor of the Ulster Museum (Tuesday - Sunday)
It is possible for blue badge holders to park right at the gates to the graveyard, but this should be organised via the contact page before your visit.
